As ICE continues to tear families apart, AMIS is increasingly being asked to support those left behind after a deportation raid. Our colleagues at Global Refuge have referred a family to us whose breadwinner was taken in a raid, leaving behind a mother; a critically ill, bedridden nine year old girl; and a teenage daughter. The mother is committed to providing for her family and is looking for a night job so a family friend can stay with the children. AMIS will provide help with rent, utilities and daily needs as this mother works to stabilize their situation. This is just one of many stories of families left without support in the wake of ICE raids, stories that continue to shape our ongoing compassionate mission.
