AMIS Welcomes Two New Trustees and Bids Adieu to Two Hardworking Friends
Consistent with its strategic plan objective to directly involve newcomers on the AMIS board, AMIS is pleased to welcome Gamaliel Muhani, from the Democratic Republic of Congo who has recently graduated with a masters in nonprofits organizations from the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences and joined the board in June. In addition to bringing
experience in non-profit development and management, fundraising, and board governance, Gamaliel’s lived experience as a newcomer will deepen our understanding of the challenges
faced when relocating to this country.
Megan Meister Spencer, a social worker by training with over 13 years of experience working
in organizations committed to helping welcome and support refugees, asylum seeker and newcomers, currently works for USCRI, an important partner organization, and joined the AMIS board this
month. She previously worked in neighborhood development in the Stockyards neighborhood.
We also sadly bid farewell to Pam Turos who helped guide AMIS’s development since its founding, including serving as board President for a year, and Bobbi Reichtell who was instrumental in forging the Nehemiah Mission housing partnership and introducing AMIS and our mission to her extensive near Westside networks. We sincerely thank both Pam and Bobbi for all their contributions.
