Yesica is the mother of two young children, one of whom is a US citizen and the other was born in Mexico. She worked as a server in Lorain until mid-March when she was laid off due to the COVID pandemic. With COVID, it will be nearly impossible for her to get another job. Her rent is $600 a month. She has a U-visa application pending and has a lawyer from Catholic Charities assisting her through the process, but U-visas are difficult to get because so few are given out nationwide. It will probably months if not years before Yesica receives her U-visa. She writes to AMIS: “Anything will be so helpful at this time and thank you for your help.”
